Minute Masks

DIY Charcoal Mask Peel

I’m sure you’ve seen commercial advertisements on social media for charcoal masks and peel-offs. These are quite expensive and can contain some pretty nasty chemical ingredients. The recipe below is for a charcoal peel-off mask that you can make at home using 3 natural ingredients. The key – Gelatin! Give it a try, you won’t regret it.

  • 1 tablespoon Gelatin
  • 1/2 teaspoon Activated Charcoal
  • 1/2 teaspoon Bentonite Clay
  • 2 tablespoons Water

Important note: This mask literally grabs everything from your skin, including hair! Do not apply the mask on your eyebrows or hairline. If at any time during the removal you feel too uncomfortable, simply wash off the mask with warm water and a cloth. It’s water soluble!

#1 – Mix gelatin, activated charcoal and bentonite clay together in a heat-resistant bowl.

#2 – Add 2 tablespoons of water and mix vigorously. It will come together in a clump, that’s normal.

#3 – Heat up the mix so it melts. Placing your bowl in a pan with boiling water works quickly.

#4 – Once the mask is about as thick as honey, remove it from the heat and place the bowl in the fridge to cool down.

#5 – Mix the mask occasionally to prevent clumps from forming.

#6 – In 3 minutes or so, the mask should be ready to be applied!

#7 – Using a brush or a clean finger, apply a thick layer of the mask on your face, focusing on your nose, upper cheeks, forehead and chin.

#8 – Let dry for 30-45 minutes.

#9 – Once fully dry, begin peeling off starting at the chin and working your way up to your forehead. Pull upward only.

#10 – Any residue can be easily washed off with warm water and a cloth.

Enjoy witnessing your blackheads and dead skin cells disappear!
